The BC Nurses' Union
A healthcare union for all

The BC Nurses' Union is the strongest voice of healthcare in our province.

BCNU represents 26,000 RNs, LPNs, Licensed Graduate Nurses and other healthcare employees. We are active in outreach to healthcare students and nursing faculties across the province.

BCNU is recognized as a group of professionals who put patients' needs at the centre of everything we do. As well as bargaining some of the best collective agreements in the industry, BCNU strongly advocates for improved public healthcare.

BCNU Associate Membership

BCNU is a leader in member education and services. We offer associate memberships so we can more effectively advance strong public healthcare as well as the interests of employees working in the industry.

Associate membership is available to all employees in the healthcare industry. Employees at non-unionized facilities can be BCNU associates to explore our services and learn how we can improve their wages, benefits and working conditions through collective bargaining.

During the year BCNU offers educationals, professional conferences, workplace discussions and regional meetings. These events give members opportunities to expand their knowledge, build strong relationships and improve their healthcare practices. Educational opportunities as well as other benefits are available to BCNU associates.

The British Columbia Nurses' Union is divided into 16 geographic regions. Members in each region elect either a regional chair or two co-chairs. They also elect an executive for their region.

BCNU's executive committee consists of the president, vice-president, treasurer, and two executive councilors. They are elected by all members across the province.

BCNU Council is the governing body of the union between annual conventions. It is comprised of regional chairs and co-chairs, and the provincial executive committee.
