Education, collaborative relationships, expert advice, better public healthcare.
BCNU is a leader in member education and services. Our education and support services help give members the resources they need to be excellent caregivers. Continuing education helps us to be strong advocates for better public healthcare and improved practice conditions.
We offer associate members many of the services provided to full BCNU members. Our educationals, meetings, seminars and conferences give healthcare employees opportunities to develop collaborative relationships and learn from others.
Associate membership benefits are:
- Invitations to BCNU meetings, conferences and conventions.
We hold annual conferences and conventions on topics of interest to nurses and other healthcare professionals. Learning opportunities also occur at regional meetings.
- BCNU educationals on leadership, conflict resolution, assertiveness. BCNU sponsors several educationals across the province every year on topics like strategic planning, managing stress, resolving bullying and other issues. They are anticipated and well received by members. These seminars are largely developed by BCNU’s Education Department which designs courses to meet the current needs of health professionals.
- Expertise on professional practice issues.
BCNU has enormous experience assisting members with professional practice issues.
- Assistance with regulatory and licensing bodies.
We can assist associate members with questions or issues related to licensing with their regulatory college or agency like the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and CRNBC.
- Six editions of BCNU Update mailed to your home annually.
Update is our award-winning magazine that features articles on members and describes events relating to healthcare in BC and beyond.
- BCNU e-news, other nursing and healthcare news.
We regularly send members electronic bulletins about their workplaces, government policies, or current events.
- Expert advice on grievance and arbitration issues.
BCNU has a well trained Labour Relations Department experienced in interpreting collective agreements, understanding labour legislation and applying case law to most circumstances.
