BCNU IS PLEDGING LPNs A BETTER FUTURE

British Columbia Nurses' Union
.............................................................................................................................

Monday November 23rd is an important day for you and for all British Columbia LPNs. That’s when we’ll start the official count of the signed BCNU membership cards received from LPNs across our province.

Our Pledge – In A Nurses’ Union, LPNs Will Have A Better Future

  • You'll have stronger representation at the bargaining table
    • 100% of your bargaining committee will be LPNs, and the committee will be elected only by LPNs.
    • Only the LPN committee can finalize a contract and recommend its acceptance
    • We will never accept pay cuts or roll backs for LPNs

  • Your pension, seniority and benefits come with you to BCNU. We’ll start planning for improvements right away.

  • You’ll have a stronger voice in your union
    • As well as regional representatives, LPNs will have six seats on Council. Your issues will be clearly heard.

  • You’ll get fantastic educational opportunities
    • LPNs will be paid to attend BCNU seminars, conferences and educationals.
    • 15% of LPN dues will seed an education fund to finance LPN continuing education or take courses towards an RN degree.

  • Your union dues will go down
    • BCNU will reduce your dues to 2% of basic pay. We will not collect dues on overtime and shift premiums.

  • You can change your mind
    • We believe nurses will always be stronger together. But if irresolvable differences emerge between members, after two collective agreements LPNs will be free to leave BCNU through a province wide secret-ballot referendum.

Our pledge also includes LPN+RN equal partnerships on policy committees, legal support and other items that are a huge benefit to LPNs. You can download a copy of our full pledge to read and to share with LPNs at your worksite.

Share our pledge with LPNs across the Province

There’s never been a more important moment for LPNs in British Columbia. LPNs have a tremendous opportunity to strengthen their profession and build a better future. But the moment will soon pass.

We need to have signed membership cards returned to BCNU by November 23. That deadline is approaching fast, so we’re asking you to share our pledge with the LPNs you work with. Encourage them to contact us right away for a membership card.

Membership cards can be requested online or LPNs can call us at 1.800.663.9991 Local 2602.

Together, let’s have a final membership push to unify nurses and give LPNs the better future they deserve.
